Mishal got his undergraduate Engineering degree from the LD College of Engineering. Following his graduation, Mishal joined Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) as a Software Engineer, working on Java, Python, MongoDB, Web Development Frameworks and Automation. At HSBC, he worked for the Fixed income and Derivatives (GBM) vertical and was a member of the GBM Innovation Lab pioneer team. He was highly appreciated for his innovation initiatives and quality of work, which earned him a “Rising star award". Mishal also worked within other roles, including Subject Matter Expert on Elasticsearch stack.
At HSBC, Mishal’s work on a project on HSBC Retail Banking website (a project which went live in 16 retail markets) was highly appreciated. Following the project, Mishal received praise for his keen understanding of the business processes, and decided to venture into Big Data and Data analytics to solve business problems.
Inspired by the potential of Big Data, Mishal joined Fixed Income and Derivatives vertical under Global Banking and Markets. He firmly believes in using Big Data as part of a process and not as an end in itself; for Mishal, setting clear business questions and using analytics in the right place to reach the end solution is the way to go. At Arizona State University, he is learning algorithmic, quantitative and analytical tools to do just that. In the future, Mishal looks to work on resolving business challenges using technology and analytics, where he can apply his passion in storytelling with data and algorithms.
